Action on additives

In September 2007, scientific research confirmed that mixtures of artificial food colourings and a commonly used food preservative can increase hyperactive behaviour in susceptible children.

These additives have not been banned. Companies continue to put them into children's food and children's medicines.

The Action on Additives website aims to expose every food, drink and medicine which contains the additives.

You are invited to visit the Action on Additives website where you can view a list of products containing the suspect additives, submit more products, and comment on the foods, drinks and medicines already listed.

The project will be co-ordinated by The Food Commission and will work closely with residents and staff who will attend free Eat less salt workshops.

Chew on this

The Chewonthis website has been designed by The Food Commission Research Charity for independent use by secondary school students aged 11-14 (Key Stage 3). The website is intended to help students (and inquisitive adults) learn more about food and health, and to encourage them to ask questions about how our food is produced and its effect on our wellbeing and the environment.

Food Irradiation project

The Food Irradiation Campaign was a long running campaign designed to prevent the unnecessary irradiation of food in the UK. As the campaign made clear, 'good food does not need irradiating'. The campaign is currently on hold, but you can visit the archived Food Irradiation Campaign here.
